Stained Concrete Services
Achieve a beautiful, unique, and marbled floor for your winery, retail store, or office. We use professional penetrating stains for a permanent color that won't fade or peel.
Acid-Stains vs. Water-Based Dyes
Stained concrete is an art. We use two different professional methods to achieve the look you want, from the rich, variegated look of a Napa tasting room to a uniform, modern office floor.
- Acid-Stains (Reactive): This is the "traditional" method. An acid-based stain *chemically reacts* with the lime in the concrete to create a mottled, variegated, and permanently marbled look. The color becomes part of the concrete itself.
- Water-Based Dyes (Penetrating): Dyes are non-reactive and act more like a wood stain. They soak into the concrete to provide a more uniform, consistent, and vibrant color. They are perfect for achieving modern grays, blues, or company logos.
After staining, we protect the floor with a durable, commercial-grade urethane sealer (in matte, satin, or gloss) to lock in the color and provide chemical and abrasion resistance.
Our Process: A Floor That is a Work of Art
Unlike a uniform coating, staining is an artisanal process. Our teams are trained in the application techniques to create a custom, beautiful floor. The process involves meticulous preparation, artistic application of the stain, and professional sealing to ensure a durable, lasting finish.
DIY vs. Pro: The "Sealer" Trap
A "DIY" concrete stain from a hardware store is not a stain; it's a thin, water-based *paint* that sits on top of the concrete. It is not a "stain" at all. It will peel, flake, and scratch off, especially in high-traffic areas. This is a common failure we are called in to fix by diamond-grinding it all off.
Failed "DIY Stain" (The "Hobbyist")
This is a topical paint, not a stain. It has flaked off, cannot be "touched up," and must be completely ground off.
Penetrating Acid Stain (The "Pro")
This is a chemical reaction *with* the concrete. The color is permanent and locked in with a urethane sealer.

"We needed a floor for our Napa tasting room that was beautiful but also durable enough for production. The Stained Concrete 4RENT installed is perfect. Their team was professional and fast."
Stained Concrete FAQs
Will the color be perfectly uniform?
An **acid-stain** will *not* be uniform. That is its advantage. It creates a variegated, marbled look that is unique to your slab. If you want a uniform, solid color, we recommend a water-based dye or a full epoxy coating.
How durable is a stained concrete floor?
The stain itself is permanent. The durability comes from the topcoat sealer. We use commercial-grade urethane sealers that are scratch and chemical-resistant. In a high-traffic retail or winery environment, the sealer may need a "refresh" coat every 3-5 years, which is a fast and low-cost process.
Can you stain any concrete floor?
Almost. If the floor is heavily contaminated with oils or has old, peeling glue, it may not accept a stain evenly. We must perform a full resurfacing with a new overlay *first*, and then we can stain that new, fresh surface perfectly.
