Concrete Resurfacing Services
Don't replace it—resurface it! We restore old, damaged, or spalled concrete with a new, polymer-modified overlay that is stronger and more durable than the original.
What is Concrete Resurfacing?
Over time, concrete slabs, walkways, and patios can become spalled, cracked, and discolored. Many property managers assume the only option is a costly, disruptive tear-out and replacement. This is rarely the case. Concrete resurfacing is the "Asset Protection" solution.
We apply a thin, high-strength, polymer-modified concrete "overlay" directly on top of your existing, prepared slab. This new surface is not just a cosmetic fix; it's a new, structural layer that is actually *stronger* and more resistant to salt, chemicals, and freeze-thaw cycles than standard concrete.
- Cost-Effective: Saves you up to 70% compared to the cost of demolition and replacement.
- Minimal Downtime: A resurfacing project is completed in a fraction of the time of a tear-out.
- Stronger than Concrete: The polymer additives create a bond and a cured strength that is superior to the original slab.
- Decorative Options: The new overlay can be finished in a variety of ways, including a simple broom-finish, staining, or stamping.
Our Process: A New Surface, Bonded for Life
Just like our coatings, the key to a successful resurfacing is preparation. We diamond-grind the entire slab to remove all contaminants and open the "pores" of the concrete. We then apply a high-bond primer, followed by the polymer-modified overlay. This creates a monolithic bond, ensuring the new surface will *never* delaminate or peel.
DIY vs. Pro: The "Patch & Paint" Trap
A "hobbyist" will often try to "fix" spalled concrete with a cheap patch-mix from a hardware store, and then "paint" over it to make it look uniform. This will fail in under a year. The patch will pop out, and the paint will peel, leaving you with a bigger problem.
Failed "Patch & Paint" (The "Hobbyist")
This cheap patch has no bond to the slab. Water has gotten underneath it, and it has popped right out.
Structural Overlay (The "Pro")
A high-strength, polymer-modified overlay that is permanently bonded to a diamond-ground slab. This is a new, durable surface.
★★★★★
"Our old Sacramento government building's concrete was a wreck. The 4RENT team came in and did a full Concrete Resurfacing. It looks like a brand new building, and the surface is incredibly durable. 10/10."
Concrete Resurfacing FAQs
What is a "polymer-modified overlay"?
It's a specialized, pre-blended concrete mix that contains high-performance polymers (glues). These polymers give the mix incredible bond strength and superior durability, allowing us to apply it in a thin layer that is still stronger than a thick layer of old-style concrete.
Is resurfacing as good as replacing the concrete?
It is *better*, assuming your underlying slab is still structurally sound (not heaving or sinking). A new, professionally installed overlay is stronger, more resistant to salt and chemicals, and less porous than the original 30-year-old slab. It's the "Asset Protection" choice.
Can you resurface and then stain the floor?
Yes. This is the best way to guarantee a perfect stain. By applying a new, "blank canvas" overlay, we have a perfectly clean and consistent surface to apply our stains and dyes, resulting in a flawless finish. This is ideal for old, heavily contaminated floors.
