What is ESD Flooring?

ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) Flooring is a specialized flooring system designed to control the static electricity that builds up on a person or equipment as they move across a floor.

Why is it dangerous? A simple static shock (the kind you get from a doorknob) can carry up to 3,000 volts. Sensitive electronic components can be destroyed by as little as 100 volts.

How Does It Work?

ESD flooring contains conductive particles (like carbon or copper filaments) embedded within the matrix of the flooring material. These particles create an electrical pathway from the surface of the floor down to a copper grounding tape, which connects to the building's electrical ground.

Who Needs ESD Flooring?

Without proper ESD protection, companies risk catastrophic data loss or latent defects in manufactured electronic goods.
